What does Hypnotherapy/Hypnosis Feel like?

Have you ever been curious about hypnotherapy but found yourself feeling a bit apprehensive or uncertain about what it entails? Maybe you've heard stories or seen depictions of hypnosis in movies that have left you with a sense of unease and concern.  You may even be fascinated by the thought of having a hypnotherapy session and are really interested to know more?

Well, this blog aims to help reassure you that hypnotherapy, when done by a trained qualified professional, is a truly enlightening and relaxing experience. Let's delve into what hypnosis feels like and how it can benefit you, while also attempting to address any concerns you may have.

Okay, so let’s set the scene, imagine this: you're sitting on a comfortable couch in safe private surroundings with gentle lighting, maybe you can hear soft relaxing music with a distinct aroma of calming essential oils in the air. You feel calm, you feel safe, and you feel an instant connection with your hypnotherapist, whom, does any excellent job at putting you at ease. Your skilled hypnotherapist holds a safe space for you and gently guides you into a state of deep relaxation, as you close your eyes and listen to their soothing voice, you begin to go deeper and deeper into a sense of beautiful calm. It's as if the weight of the world has been lifted off your shoulders, as you focus on your therapists’ words and tune inwards on your thoughts and emotions.

The feelings that hypnotherapy may bring vary from person to person, but most commonly, clients report feeling deeply relaxed, calm, and focused during the session. Many people describe the sensation of being hypnotised as if being in a dream-like state. Where your conscious mind quietens down and your subconscious mind becomes more open and receptive to positive suggestions, allowing you to explore your subconscious thoughts and beliefs in a safe and supportive environment.

It's like embarking on a journey of self-discovery, where you can uncover hidden insights and release any negative thought patterns or limitations that may be holding you back from your desired goal or outcome. It is not uncommon to experience a sense of heightened awareness or a shift in perspective as you explore your subconscious mind.

Hypnotherapy is a tool for positive change and personal empowerment. It's a gateway to a deeper understanding of yourself and a path towards achieving your goals and dreams. Where you can tap into your inner strength and wisdom, allowing you to identify and overcome obstacles and to embrace your full potential.

I often tell my client's that it is a bit like a deep meditiation.  You are always aware of what is happening and are in control, at all times.  If at any point you feel uncomfortable or wish to stop the session, you can easily come out of hypnosis with a simple command.

Hypnosis is a collaborative process, and you have the power to accept or reject any suggestions that are offered to you. Your therapist is there to facilitate your exploration and growth, helping you to connect with your inner resources and create positive change in your life.

Prior to your Hypnotherapy session you will have had an Intake and during the intake you would have had ample opportunity to ask any questions you may have about your session and to seek further reassurance. Trust in the process and in the guidance of your Hypnotherapist, knowing that they are there to support you every step of the way.

Apprehension is understandable when experiencing something which is unfamiliar. To help my clients to relax, I like to provide them with a pre-session relaxation audio recording to listen to, this allows my client the opportunity to become familiar with the sound of my voice and with the hypnotherapy process. So that when they do come to the clinic for their hypnotherapy session they and their subconscious mind are fully aware of what to expect as it has become familiar and the client can simply relax straight into it.

Take that leap of faith and allow yourself to experience the wonders of hypnotherapy. You may be pleasantly surprised and may discover the profound impact it may have on your life. Remember, the journey to self-discovery and personal growth is a beautiful and rewarding one. If you do try hypnotherapy, then do make your hypnotherapist aware of any concerns you may have.  Let yourself be guided towards a brighter, more empowered future.

Here's to your journey of healing, insight, and transformation through the enlightening and relaxing experience. You deserve to explore your full potential and live your life to the fullest. Embrace the journey and let the power of hypnosis guide you towards a happier, healthier, and more fulfilling life.

Remember, hypnotherapy is a powerful tool for personal growth and transformation, and with an open mind and willingness to explore your subconscious, alongside your own motivation and desire for change, you may very well experience profound and lasting changes in your life.
